Getting Married? Forget The Large Wedding And Save Money

Posted on

If you are planning to get married but on a tight budget, you may want to skip a large wedding. In 2014, the average wedding in the United States cost $31,213. Even if you do not plan to pay near this much, it will cost a substantial amount of money. Below are two ways you can get married that will still create some lasting memories for you and your soon to be spouse.

Las Vegas

Travel to Vegas for some gambling fun, and get married while you are there. You can find many wedding chapels in the area, such as A Little White Wedding Chapel, that can provide you with some unique weddings. There are chapels that do drive through weddings so you do not even have to get out of your car. You can also have an Elvis wedding if you are a fan of his. Most chapels will provide you with witnesses, if needed, as well as bouquets. They may make a DVD and take photographs of the ceremony.

You can also get married in the Eiffel Tower. It may not be the actual one, but in Las Vegas you will find its own version of the tower. Ride the elevator to the very top, and get married looking out over Vegas. You do not even have to make reservations beforehand. There are also wedding chapels in the tower that will let you get married on a private balcony with a view of the city, if you prefer.

The Courthouse

Instead of a wedding venue, visit the courthouse to get married. The only thing you will have to purchase is the marriage license and pay someone to marry you. Both of these fees are nominal, and you can be married very quickly. One person that can marry you is a judge. Find one that has a very nice office, and if you get married during regular business hours it may cost less.  Ask only your best friends and a few family members to attend. There may not be a lot of room in the office, so make sure you ask beforehand so you do not bring too many people along with you. Don't forget to take pictures and have someone record you and your spouse exchanging vows. Have dinner at a local restaurant after the wedding, or have a party at your house.

These are just two ways you can get married without having a large wedding. You could also get married in a local park, your own backyard, and more.
